"SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

SATC

It is apparent: "SEX" sells.

In a not-so-stunning turn of events, (Wild About Movies predicted this outcome), "Sex And The City: The Movie" whipped "Indiana Jones's" butt at the movie box office. In its first weekend in movie theaters, "Sex And The City: The Movie" grossed over $56 million (not a record for an R-rated movie - which goes to "The Passion of the Christ," that took in over $80 million its first three days in movie theaters - but a record for a romantic comedy). Its second weekend in movie theaters, "Indiana Jones 4" managed only $45 million, a more than 50% drop from its first weekend's movie box office receipts - and what many consider a big embarassment to Steven Spielberg and George Lucas - a second place finish, coming (in) after "Sex." Another movie box office success this weekend? Universal Pictures' "The Strangers," starring Liv Tyler. The R-rated horror film grabbed #3 at the movie box office with more than $21 million.
