"June 27-29, 2008 Movie Box Office"
"WALLE" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

WalleWhile "WALLE" grabbed the #1 spot at the movie box office, capturing over $63 million, it wasn't by any stretch a record breaking weekend for Disney or Pixar.

Many years ago, when movie ticket prices were lower, "Finding Nemo" grabbed over $70 million its first three days in movie theaters.

And just three weeks ago, the lame Dreamworks Animation film "Kung Fu Panda," opened with over $60 million - and came in #4 this weekend, going head-to-head with "WALLE."

"Wanted," which opened in nearly 1000 less theaters against "WALLE," was the #1 movie on a per screen average - and #2 overall - grabbing over $52 million. Not bad for an R-rated action flick.

Surprisingly, both "WALLE" and "Wanted" had precipitous drops their second day in movie theaters, Saturday. Most new movies have 25-40% rises on the first full weekend day of their release. In fact, all other movies in the Top 10 at the movie box office this weekend had spikes in their box office tallies on Saturday, compared to their Friday takes.

It remains to be seen how well "WALLE" and "Wanted" will fare this July 4th long holiday weekend when the badly reviewed "Hancock," starring closet Scientologist Will Smith, hits movie theaters.

"The Love Guru," which was released last week, will be out of theaters sooner than later, making it one of the biggest bombs at the summer movie box office, and the biggest disaster in Mike Myers' movie career - this decade.
